Action

The county plans to build a road through the Miccosukee Greenway, called the Dempsey Mayo Extension. It will connect the Walaunee development to Miccosukee Road (and Mahan via Dempsey Mayo.

Railroad Avenue between FAMU Way and Gaines St is scheduled to get a facelift. The current plan call for a two lane raod a median, greenery, a multi-use path on the west side, but no bikelanes.

There have been 2 bills filed that are of importance to cyclist safety. While the full session doesn't start until March, these bills are going to be taken up by the various committees. It is important to tell your legislators and the committee members that these bills are crucial to the safety of bicycles and pedestrians.

First a get together on Bike packing, touring, and bicycle vacationing Friday evening February 10th. Second, in March there will be a one or two day (you choose) club ride to explore the new coastal trail. Read on to hear more about both of these activities. In addition, we have a new weekly club ride that will leave from Bicycle House at 10:30 AM Sunday mornings, check facebook or the web site for any location changes. And, finally, we are working on putting together another multi day ride in South Georgia in April.
It is important to let your voice heard in favor of the multi-use path to get it realized.

Event

The 37th Spaghetti 100 was another great success. The weather was great, the roads and trails in great condition in spite of some sandy patches, and the riders were happy.
Capital CIty Cyclists is participating again in the Winter Festival parade. Dec 4. Parade starts at 7:15, come join us before 7 pm. Open to all cyclists, but helmets are required, as well as decorated bikes. However, do not come dressed as Santa, there are no Santas allowed in the parade.

Joanna won the national championship in her age category !!
Last year was not a great year for many people. As the numbers for traffic fatalities for 2021 in Florida are getting finalized, it is clear that Florida had more pedestrians and more cyclists killed by drivers of motor vehicles than ever before.
