Special Announcements:
1. Garry Breedlove has informed me he will not be able to lead the Wednesday or Friday “Riding Not Working” ride for the months of May through at least August. We need substitute ride leaders for both of these
rides to keep them going through the summer. If you enjoy those rides, it’s time to give back by volunteering to serve as a substitute ride leader. Ideally, I’d like to find two substitutes for each of these rides.
Volunteering as a ride leader for a weekly ride does not mean that you have to be there every single week. It just means that you will show up if you are in town and feel like riding. The primary job of the ride
leaders is to do their best to make sure that the other riders have a safe and enjoyable ride.
If you can help out in Garry’s absence, please email me. If you are new to being a ride leader, that’s ok. I can provide an orientation and/or training as needed.
I can probably help lead the Friday ride during the month of June but have other commitments for May and the rest of the summer.
2. I was not able to attend the time trial yesterday but I hear that people are still really enjoying it. Here is Ken Schilling’s report:
“Hard work, good finish times and great camaraderie were "the order of the day".
Please take note that "Randall-the-Rocket" Smythe has once again stamped his authority on proceedings by breaking "the 16 minute barrier" with a finish time of 15:56 (...a
27 second improvement from his 4/7 time, set at an average speed of 23.7 mph). I'm not worthy.
Speaking of improving, Mr. Nico "I-don't-take-no-crap" Wienders has cut his time by 1 1/2 minutes since his 1st ride. Jeez.
But, the best improvement of all has been made by the absolutely-fearless Shakun Fang @ 1 minute, 32 seconds. ...and she's doing that on a drop-bar Mountain Bike on
2.3" knobbies with a bikepacking bag in the main triangle. Double Jeez.
Thanks again to the indispensable Greg New for his much-appreciated help. Thanks, too, Jim Higdon for lending your support of the riders (...he took charge of providing "atmosphere" and
took great apres-ride photos).
So, next week...yes?”
If you have previously registered for any of the Spring Series rides, you do not need to re-registered for next Saturday.
