Special Announcements:

1.  The first of the four Saturday Spring CCC 10k Time Trial Series rides was yesterday.  A big thanks to Ken Schilling for putting together the series.  Our fastest (so far) female (Michele Crouse) and male (David Glassner) riders are shown below, courtesy of CCC member Kevin Sossong, who is an amateur photographer with professional level skills (thanks Kevin).  Congrats to Michele and David.  We will see if they can hold the lead next Saturday.  We have some seriously fast riders!

If your name is on the list above, you are automatically registered for all four Saturdays, regardless of whether you rode yesterday.  You do not need to register again.  If you have not previously registered and did not ride yesterday, you are still welcome to ride on any or all of the remaining Saturdays.  But please register at https://cccyclists.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=105555&item_id=2264233 so that Ken can add you to the official score sheet.

Here is a link to a good article on maximizing your time trial performance:

Finally, thanks to Greg New, Cyndee Johnson, and Laura Aaron for helping Ken officiate the event yesterday.

2.  Next Saturday is the second Saturday of the month.  That means it’s time to join Sandy Berger and the group at 9 am in Southwood for the monthly Ride to Eat ride. See https://cccyclists.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=105555&item_id=2265058 for compete details.

3.  I want to remind everyone that CCC is now offering regularly scheduled clay rides from Bradley’s Country Store.  Jane Ann Mann leads a clay ride once a month on the 3rd Saturday.  Greg New and Ed Livingston lead a weekly clay ride each Thursday.  I had a chance to check out the Bradley’s clay ride last Thursday with Greg.  I really enjoyed it.  I rode my mountain bike with my suspension locked out.  Almost any fatter tire bike (38mm or more recommended) will work.  If you are not sure how wide your tires are look for a number like “38-622” on the sidewall.  That is your ISO tire size.  The first number is the width of the tire in mm — that is the number you should focus on.  The second number is the diameter of the tire and is mostly irrelevant for purposes of clay road suitability (but very important when purchasing a replacement tire).  There will also probably be a bunch of other confusing numbers on the sidewall.  Ignore them and just find the ISO size.  Here is a great article on the subject from the late great Sheldon Brown:  https://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html.
