22nd Annual Spaghetti 100
October 22, 2005

The Event
The Capital City Cyclists are proud to present the 22nd annual Spaghetti 100 on Saturday, October 22, 2005. We are offering the option of a 100 mile or 100 K (68 miles) paved road ride or a 100K dirt road ride. There is also a FAST TRACK option at a reduced cost for those who wish to ride but not stop for lunch.

All riders will leave the town of Miccosukee, northeast of Tallahassee, and ride north through scenic North Florida and South Georgia to historic Thomasville and Boston, Georgia, through Monticello, Florida and back to Miccosukee for a post-ride meal. This year, lack of access to a facility with a kitchen will prevent us from providing the traditional spaghetti dinner, but make-your-own hoagies and delicious, home-made black beans/rice and cakes will be the fare for tired and hungry riders.

The dirt road course follows beautiful, canopied clay roads through the Quail Plantations. About ten miles will be on pavement. The dirt road riders will join the paved road riders for the morning rest stop in Thomasville, lunch in Boston, and the post-ride meal back in Miccosukee. There will not be an afternoon rest stop between Boston and Miccosukee (28 miles). The clay roads are non-technical. There will not be a Sag on the dirt road course, but there will be bail out points that intersect with the road ride where a disabled rider can be picked up. The dirt roads will NOT be signed; however, you will get a detailed map with mileage. In the event of rain, which turns the clay into deep mud, riders can switch to the metric or century road ride.

The cost for the Spaghetti 100 is $37 ($33 for CCC members). Without lunch in Boston (the Fast Track), the cost is $32 non-members, $29 CCC members. CCC members' children under 12 ride free, while the cost for those of non-members is $20. The price includes a continental breakfast, lunch at the Boston Main Street Café for those who choose, a post-ride meal, mechanical and sag support, snack stops, and an insulated travel coffee cup.

Registration
You have two options for Spaghetti 2005 registration. Online registration will be available at
active.com. There will be a $2.50 charge for use of this service, but it will eliminate manual data entry by underpaid Spaghetti volunteers and allow the convenience of paying by credit card.

If you prefer, a manual registration form is included in the brochure that was mailed out in mid-August and distributed to local bike shops. Registration deadline is October 9, 2005. Anyone registering after that date must pay a late fee of $8. Capital City Cyclists will refund 90 percent of your entry fee until October 9, 2005. The ride will be capped at 250 riders. We expect it to fill up, so don't delay! Registration will begin in August, 2005.

Walk-On Registration. Walk on Registration for Spaghetti 100 will be allowed if the ride is not capped. Watch this web site for updates.

Packet Pick-Up will be on Friday, October 21 at Sunshine Cycles, 2783 Capital Circle NE, Tallahassee, (850) 422-1075, from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM (see map). You can also pick up your packet the day of the ride at the Miccosukee Community Park (behind the Boys & Girls Club), just east of SR 59 on Cromartie Rd.

Continental Breakfast will be served from 7 - 8 AM.

Ride Times: Both the 100 mile and 100K rides begin at 8 AM. There will be snack stops at approximately 25 and 75 miles for the 100 mile ride and 25K and 75K for the 100K ride.

Fast Track options enable speedier riders to forego the lunch stop at a reduced cost. There will be a snack stop.

The post-ride meal will be served from 1 to 4:30 PM at the Miccosukee Community Park. Home-made black beans and rice and 'make-your-own' subs will be offered along with dessert and drinks. Additional meals for non-riders can be purchased along with registration.

The Rules

  • Helmets are required. No helmet - no ride!
  • Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult cyclist at all times and have a liability release form signed by a parent or guardian.
