The CCC now has a ride group "CBC Urban Rides" that focusses to ride different city routes and discuss these. However, everyone is encouraged to proof-ride the routes whenever it is convenient, and provide comments and suggestions.
The CBC routes can be found here.

With the installation of the underground culvert, which has to be completed before the summer 2012, one of the one-way pairs will be completely torn up, which has brough up the question: "What should be put back?"
Since the city and county commisioners met in September at the Blueprint2000 Intergovernmental Agency (IA) meeting, a lot has happened. At that September meeting two CBC members and one Franklin neighborhood representative spoke in favor of reducing the number of lanes to make room for pedestrians and cyclists. This idea was well received by the commissioners and the Blueprint staff started working on a plans for such a 2-lane alternative. At the Oct 27th Blueprint2000 Public meeting three alternatives were presented. Alternative A. Alternative B, and Alternative C. Alternative C proposes a reduction of the number of travel lanes from 4 to 2, and has bikelanes as well as a sidewalk on one side and a 10' wide path on the other. The CBC strongly supported this option C, as did most of the meeting participants, with option C receiving a large majority of the votes. At the special IA meeting in early november the commissioners unanimously approved that option. This is a great win for the community!
Bicycle Route Plan takes shape - Route Testing started One of the principle projects of the CBC is the establishment of a signed bicycle route system. A draft now exists, and the CBC is seeking comments. Please see the Route Project page for more info
Regional Mobility Plan approved. The Capital Region Transportation Planning Agency (CRTPA) in collaboration with Star Metro has drafted the Regional Mobility Plan (RMP). This is the new 25 year Long Range Transportation plan. This plan indicates a break from the past with a new direction that focusses on moving people rather than cars. About 25% of the funds will go to bike and pedestrian projects, and about 40% to transit. More information can be found here . While the CBC has the opinion that the new plan still lacks in a vision for an interconnected bicycle network, we congratulate the CRTPA Board. This plan is adapted to the future. The number of miles driven has stabilized or even diminished in the past few years. Bicycle use has increased, as has public transport ridership. This trend is likely to continue, and will be facilitated with the new RMP.
Horizon 2060 is the name of most recent update of the Long Range Transportation Plan for the State of Florida. The draft plan will be available for public comment later this fall, but currently FDOT is seeking comments concerning the goals, objectives, and strategies of this plan. Target date for these comments is August 31st. Horizon 2060 website.
